An Affront to Whom Mr. Frist?

So House Minority Leader Harry Read pulled off a great political move today, invoking Senate Rule 21, effectively shutting down the Senate to force the Republicans into investigating the manipulation of intelligence that Bush and the Republicans used to take the US into war. An investigation that the 9-11 Commission recommended nearly 18 months ago. An investigation that Senator Roberts, the Republican in charge of heading such an investigation, has been stalling and trying to sweep under the rug. An investigation that in light of the recent indictments of the Vice President of the United States' top aide, "Scotter' Libby, seems more appropriate than ever.

So what did the Senate Majority Leader, Republican Bill Frist, have to say about this? Did he speak of getting to the bottom of the complete lack of WMD in Iraq? Did he talk about getting to the truth about why we went to war? Did he talk about following the recommendations of the 9-11 Commission to give Americans the truth about the Iraq War? Nope. He threw a hissy fit:
Frist said Democrats had "hijacked" the Senate, and Democrats threatened to close the chamber each day until Republicans agreed to move forward with the investigation.

"This is an affront to me personally," said Frist, a Tennessee Republican. "This is an affront to our leadership. It is an affront to the United States of America, and it is wrong."

Frist said Senate Rule 21 -- which requires everyone but senators and a few aides to clear the chamber until a majority votes to reopen -- had been invoked only rarely and with "mutual conversation" between the leaders of both parties.

For all the liberals and progressive Democrats out there, as well as any American interested in why all the intelligence used to rail road this county into war turned out to be crapola, allow me to say just one thing to Mr. Frist:

Shut your fucking pie hole.

Just shut it. Your party used Rule 21 in the impeachment of Bill Clinton. Your party, under your leadership, routinely keeps five minute votes open for 45, 60, 90 minutes against Senate and House rules to twist arms until they get the vote they want. Your party's president has continually recommended judicial nominees without so much as even consulting with Democrats in a complete break from past practice, historical norms, and general respect. Your party's leadership is in the running to challenge Nixon's for the most indictments in this country's history!

An affront to your leadership, Mr. Frist? It's about damn time someone affronted your leadership. It's about time someone called "bullshit" on you and your party's continually looking the other way of its members wrong doing and ethical challenges. It's about time someone challenged your indictment prone cabal in charge of the Federal government to tell the truth.

But the part of this hissy fit that really galls me, Mr. Frist, is your insinuation that this is somehow an affront to the American people. Who the hell are you to speak for the American people? You are under investigation for insider trading to the tune of $6 million dollars. You diagnosed Terri Shiavo as being able to see based on a video tape you viewed and inspite of the fact that a coroner later noted that she had no ability to see what so ever. You used to practice heart surgery on cats you'd "adopt" from the local shelter.

The fact you are the Republican Majority leader is an affront to the American people. The fact you think the recommendations of the 9-11 Commission should be ignored is an affront to the American people. The fact you think Senator Roberts, who has stalled, stone walled, delayed, and dragged his feet for two years, should not be replaced is an affront to the American people

The fact you'd rather the truth not be investigated, but instead be withheld from the American people is an affront to every American.

You disgust me Mr. Frist. Karma is going to be a real bitch for you.
